Should CNC communication use wired or wireless networking?

Direct answer

Wireless can lower initial deployment effort and help with moving equipment, but it adds interference, signal, security, shared-bandwidth, and hardware-obsolescence considerations. Wired industrial Ethernet is usually more predictable for fixed, mission-critical equipment. Use wireless when its operational benefit justifies those risks and the environment has been surveyed and maintained for it.

Practical checkpoint

Measure coverage and interference at every machine under real production conditions—not from the office or an empty shop.
