Program & data control
When has a shared drive stopped being good enough for CNC programs?
Updated
NC-BaseMDM
Direct answer
A shared drive becomes the constraint when people cannot quickly prove the current approved version, recover a prior version, see who changed a file, restrict transfers by status, or review programs returning from machines. Folder conventions can organize files, but they do not create workflow state or an audit trail.
Practical checkpoint
Ask how long it takes to prove which version ran six months ago and who approved it. If the answer depends on memory, the control gap is already visible.
