Is encrypted Wi-Fi enough to make wireless DNC reliable and secure?

Updated

Wireless DNCIndustrial networking

Direct answer

Encryption addresses unauthorized access, but it does not remove interference, jamming, coverage, shared-bandwidth, maintenance, or radio-obsolescence risks. Wireless may still be appropriate, especially for movable assets or difficult cable routes, but production reliability needs a spectrum and coverage assessment plus an ownership plan for updates and replacement.

Practical checkpoint

Test packet reliability and signal quality during the noisiest production period and document what happens when the wireless path drops mid-transfer.
