Should the factory-reset button be disabled on a production Moxa NPort?

Updated

Moxa NPortDNC-Max

Direct answer

It can prevent an accidental reset from returning a critical device server to its default address and taking multiple DNC ports offline. The tradeoff is recoverability: once reset protection and a password are in place, accurate records of the IP address, MAC address, credentials, machine assignment, and configuration become essential.

Practical checkpoint

Do not enable reset protection until the device record and credential-recovery process are stored somewhere other than the device itself.
