How do I build a credible business case for machine monitoring?

Use your own operation rather than generic benchmarks. Start with scheduled hours, estimated spindle or productive hours, recurring downtime, scrap or rework, machine count, shifts, and shop rate. Frame monitoring as the way to make losses measurable; do not promise that installing software automatically creates a target OEE.
