How do I keep CIMCO Edit from adding .nc to an unfamiliar file extension?

Updated

CIMCO EditFile types

Direct answer

Register the required extension in the Editor's file-type and load/save configuration. Once the format is recognized, files such as .eia can retain their intended names, and the extension can optionally be associated with CIMCO Edit in Windows.

Practical checkpoint

Open, edit, save, and reopen a copy of each custom extension; confirm neither the filename nor line endings and encoding change unexpectedly.
