What is the practical difference between Backplot and solid simulation?

Direct answer

Backplot visualizes programmed tool motion and is excellent for checking path, sequence, and orientation. Solid simulation models material removal, so the result can be inspected as stock changes and checked for gouges, remaining material, or collisions. The choice depends on whether path visualization alone answers the release question.

Practical checkpoint

Use a part where the toolpath looks plausible but the material result contains a known problem; that separates the two review needs clearly.
